Mississippi Fishing Spots

Located within a short drive of Jellystone Park’s campground in Pelahatchie, MS is the Ross Barnett Reservoir. During the late spring and early summer, this manmade lake is absolutely hopping with bass. The frequency of the catches makes this a great fishing destination to take your children.

If you are camping further north in the state at our campground in Horn Lake, Mississippi , you can try your luck fishing on the Mississippi. The river is home to a large variety of catfish, some of which can grow to over 10 feet long. You might need all hands on deck to reel in some of the larger catfish of the Mississippi River.

Wherever you choose to fish, your family will enjoy the time spent together fishing from the shady banks of the Mississippi or on a boat underneath the pleasant sun

Science & Nature Museums

The state’s museums bring the outdoors to you and are a great place to visit on your family vacation to Mississippi. Close to our Pelahatchie family campground is the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. At the museum, you can experience the state from top to bottom as you and your family view each display. Your children will love the hands on activities and everyone can learn something about the natural wonders of this great state.

Just down highway 78 from our Horn Lake campground is the Montrose & Montrose Arboretum. Here visitors can experience over 50 different types of plant and tree wildlife that are native to the region. This is an excellent choice for a quick day trip, leaving plenty of time for you to enjoy the family activities back at the campground.
