The Russell family, owners of the Jellystone Park™ Campground in Horn Lake, Mississippi , just south of Memphis, have been recognized with the Facility of the Year Award by the Jellystone Park franchise system. The award is given to the Campground that has added new amenities and facilities while also showing sustained improvements on current amenities.
Located just five miles south of Elvis’ hometown, the campground is the perfect home base for exploring attractions like Graceland, the Beale Street Music Festival, riverboat cruises on the mighty Mississippi (including the legendary Delta Queen), and the lively casinos that dot the region. The park’s 20.5 picturesque, beautifully landscaped acres include 136 RV campsites and 12 rustic cabins; 28 more full-hookup concrete sites and six new three-bedroom luxury cabins will open in April. The entire family will love the swimming pool, playground, recreation room with video games, and live entertainment at the pavilion. The 2011 camping season will introduce a new Jumping Pillow, a huge inflated pillow where kids can bounce until they wear themselves out (and adults can let their inner kid loose without blowing a knee) and two inflatable waterslides.
Planned activities and themed weekends make camping more fun than ever all season long. This year’s weekend lineup kicks off April 23-24 with Easter Weekend, with its egg-cellent egg hunt and decorating contest. A sample of upcoming weekend festivities include the Hawaiian-themed Luau with Yogi Bear Weekend (June 10-12); Medieval Weekend, when you can make your own magic potion, wizard’s wand or fairy dust (July 29-31); and Chocolate Weekend (August 19-21).
